“I’ve been playing guitar from 9yo and ultimately touring internationally for more than 20 years. During that time, I’ve owned several guitars from the major commercial brands, but it was only when I moved to Minnesota and ordered my first Livermore guitar (custom 00 spruce/cocobolo) when I really felt I owned something really special.
That guitar suddenly had more soul, harmonics, value and uniqueness than all the other (+14) guitars I have in my studio. It really resonates, it really comes alive and sings out surprisingly loud for a small parlour-style acoustic. It’s perfectly balanced, almost as if you heard a compressed, eq’d professionally recorded guitar.  The top was manually tuned through an amazing process that involves glitter and loudspeakers. Every detail, the neck feel, the inlays, were exactly as I asked, and the soundport made the playing experience so organic.
Eventually, I decided to challenge Mr Livermore and order an electric guitar from him (t-style, figured maple top/semi-hollow padauk body)…Again, lots of magic happening, great sound, great feel and all the unique features than one can expect from a custom made guitar for a very reasonable, down-to-earth price.
Two words: Beyond. Expectations.”

Covid luck!! If there is such a thing. Because of our internment, I decided to try and learn fingerstyle guitar. I tried on my Martin HD-28 but couldn’t make the strings ring. I found an old classical guitar and found I could come much closer with the wider neck – but I did not like the sound, I knew I wanted a steel string guitar. Scouring the internet, I sent dozens of emails to guitar makers all willing to make a steel string guitar with a wider neck. Then I received an email that started with “I’m very interested in making you a guitar, but where did you get my email? Because we have a lot in common. We are from the same hometown – Sioux Falls, South Dakota – and I am also an orchestra teacher and a bass player!! I was committed then and there – if anything just to help a fellow educator. But the luck part is the guitar is amazing!! The quality and workmanship of my Dave Livermore guitar is excellent. The quality of the materials – cedar top with leopardwood back and sides is gorgeous. But the most amazing part is the sound for a small body guitar. Rich bass overtones and ease of playability make this guitar impossible to put down, I play it everyday. Thanks Dave, by the way I sold my Martin HD-28. Jed Fritzemeier, Chelsea MI

The first time I ever laid eyes on my Dragonfly Guitar, I was immediately smitten. I had never seen such a beautiful guitar. The tourmaline inlay work was simply exquisite and the woods so vibrant and warm. After years now of playing my Dragonfly Guitar, I can say that what I love the most about it is the rich, deep tone and the way it stays in tune after playing it for hours. I feel blessed to call this beautiful work of art my guitar! Thank you, David Livermore! Laura Carlson, Roseville, MN

I love my Dragonfly Guitar!
I keep it displayed on a stand in my home, because it is very beautiful to look it, a work of art.
Even though it is a large bodied guitar, the contours make it comfortable to hold and play.
The sound is rich and even with warmth in the bass notes and clarity on the upper registers.
The unique Dragonfly carved into the body emits tones that make playing it a great experience for the player.
Over the past 50 years, I have owned many guitars personally. Some were workhorses that I played only on my gigs, but they never came out of the cases at home.
I play my Dragonfly at home for my own personal enjoyment.
I’ve taken it out on a few shows, and it has performed very well with the built in pickup.
I hesitate to take to some gigs, because some of the bar and club shows get a bit rowdy, and like I said earlier, The Dragonfly is a work of art.

As a music retailer since 1981, I have sold many thousands of guitars  from almost every major guitar builder: Martin, Guild, Yamaha, Breedlove, Taylor, Fender, Gibson, Seagull,Godin, Ibanez, Alavarez, Yairi,Ovation, Washburn, and Luna just to name a few. There are many fine instruments from great makers. I have personally owned and still own several.
I chose to buy my Dragonfly from Dave Livermore, because it was unique in looks and sound; a beautiful one-of-a-kind instrument.
